Grownhome is a mobile app that maps farms, farmers markets and local producers near you. The short version: it has no accounts and does not collect personal information about you. This policy explains what that means in practice.
What this policy covers
This policy covers the Grownhome mobile app and this website. Where the two behave differently, the difference is stated. It does not cover the farms, markets, businesses or other websites you may find through the app — those are independent of us and have their own practices.
Grownhome has not been released yet. This policy describes the app as it is built today and will be updated before and after release as the app changes.
The operator is based in Quebec, Canada, and the person responsible for the protection of personal information can be reached at grownhome.team@gmail.com. Because Grownhome does not collect personal information, there is no personal information held about you here or transferred anywhere else.
Who operates Grownhome
The Grownhome app is published and operated under the name Grownhome, from Quebec, Canada. For anything in this policy — questions, corrections, or a request about your privacy — write to grownhome.team@gmail.com. A person reads it.
The operator’s full legal name will be published here before the app is released, and will match the developer name shown on its App Store and Google Play listings.
Information the app handles
The app shows a map of farms and markets around you, tags each place with what it produces, orders nearby results by distance, lets you save places, shows a Deals tab, and lets you add a farm that is not on the map yet.
There are no accounts
You do not create an account to use Grownhome. The app does not ask you for a name, an email address, a phone number or a password, and there is no sign-in with Apple, Google or any social network. Because there is no account, there is no account profile to hold personal information and nothing to delete on request — see Your privacy rights.
Places you save
Saving a place records your choice so the app can show it back to you. It is a list of businesses, not information about you, and we do not use it to build a profile.
Search and filters
The app lets you search and narrow results by filter. We do not log or store what you type or which filters you set. There is no search history kept about you.
Diagnostics and analytics
The app contains no analytics software and no crash or diagnostic reporting. We do not measure which screens you open, what you tap, or how long you spend in the app. There is no advertising software in the app and no advertising identifier is used.
Notifications
The app does not send push notifications, so no notification token is registered for your device.
Location
The point of Grownhome is to show what is near you, so the app needs to know roughly where you are. On iOS and Android the operating system asks your permission before any app can read your device location, and you can decline or change that permission at any time in your device settings. If you decline, the app cannot order results by distance from you.
Your location is used to work out which farms are closest to you and how far away they are. We do not store your location, and we do not keep a record of where you have been or link any location to you — there is no account to link it to.
Separately, any internet request an app or website makes necessarily reveals your IP address to the server handling it, and an IP address can indicate an approximate area. That is a property of how the internet works rather than a choice we make, and we do not claim otherwise.
Farms you add and content you contribute
The app has an Add Farm action. When you submit a farm or market, you are sending us information about a place — such as its name, where it is and what it sells — so that it can appear on the map for other people. Submissions are intended to be published, so do not put anything in a submission that you do not want to be public.
Do not submit someone else’s personal information, including a private home address or a person’s contact details, unless that business genuinely publishes those details to the public itself.
The listings on the map come from Grownhome’s own directory of farms and markets, together with places submitted through Add Farm.
Subscription and payment
Grownhome is a paid app. It starts with a 7-day free trial and then continues as a subscription; the current price is shown in the app before you are charged anything.
We never see your payment details. Subscriptions are sold and billed by the App Store or Google Play, using the payment method already on your Apple or Google account. Your card number, billing address and payment history are held by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We do not receive them, and we could not charge you directly even if we wanted to.
What we can see is whether a subscription is active, so the app knows whether to unlock. That status is not tied to your name or email, because there is no account.
Information this website handles
This website is deliberately plain. It is a set of static pages. It has no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no tracking cookies and no cookie banner, because it sets no cookies at all. It has no sign-in, no database and no forms — the only way to contact us from here is the email address published on the support page, which opens your own mail app.
Like any website, it is served by a hosting provider that processes the network requests needed to deliver these pages, which involves your IP address and browser user-agent in the ordinary course of serving traffic. This site is hosted on Vercel. We do not add any tracking on top of that.
Third-party services
The map is drawn using Mapbox. Displaying a map means your device requests map tiles from Mapbox, so Mapbox receives the technical information needed to serve those tiles — including your IP address and the area of the map you are looking at — and handles it under its own privacy terms rather than ours.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple and Google through their own billing systems, as described under Subscription and payment.
The farm directory itself is delivered to the app from our own systems. Because we do not collect personal information, there is no personal information about you stored on them.
If you tap through from a listing to a farm’s own website, phone number or social page, you leave Grownhomeand that destination’s own practices apply.
How information is used and disclosed
Information handled by the app is used to:
- show farms, markets and producers near you and order them by distance;
- show what each place sells and remember the places you save;
- publish farm submissions on the map, after review;
- unlock the app for the length of your trial or subscription.
That is the whole list. Information is not used to profile you, to target advertising, or to measure your behaviour, and it is disclosed only where we are legally required to disclose it or where it is necessary to investigate abuse of the submission feature.
Where the law that applies to you requires a legal basis: device location is handled on the basis of the permission you grant through your operating system, and everything else on the basis of providing the service you asked for.
Selling, advertising and tracking
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Grownhome does not show third-party advertising, and this website carries no advertising or tracking of any kind.
There is no advertising software and no tracking or advertising identifier in the app. We do not combine anything from Grownhomewith data from other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not give your information to data brokers. If any of this ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships.
Security and retention
Connections to our services use HTTPS, and access to anything we store is limited to the people who need it to run the service. No service can promise perfect security, and we will not tell you your information is completely safe — no honest operator can.
Because we do not collect personal information, there is nothing about you for us to retain. Farm listings — including ones submitted through Add Farm — are kept for as long as the place is open and the listing is accurate, and are removed when it is not. Places you save and the app’s own settings live on your device and go when you uninstall the app.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to the personal information an operator holds about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a privacy regulator. To make any of these requests, email grownhome.team@gmail.com.
Two things are worth being concrete about, because they affect what we can actually do for you:
- There is no account to delete. Grownhomehas no sign-up, so there is no profile holding your identity. You can remove the app’s access to your location at any time in your device settings, and uninstalling the app removes what it stored on your device.
- Farm submissions can be taken down. If you submitted a listing and want it removed, or you are the owner of a place that is listed and want it corrected or taken off the map, email us and we will act on it.
Because there is no account, we may not be able to connect a request to any particular person’s data, and we will tell you honestly when that is the case rather than ask you to send us identity documents we do not need.
Children
Grownhome is suitable for all ages. It has no accounts, no profiles, no messaging and no social features, and it does not collect personal information from anyone — which means it does not collect personal information from children either.
A subscription is a payment commitment, so anyone under the age of majority where they live needs a parent or guardian to agree to the Terms and to authorise any purchase. Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play, where Apple’s and Google’s own family and parental-approval controls apply.
If you believe a child has sent us information through a farm submission, email grownhome.team@gmail.com and we will remove it.
Changes and how to contact us
When this policy changes we update the effective date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how information is handled, we will make that clear in the app as well as here.
Privacy questions and requests: grownhome.team@gmail.com. General help: see the support page. The terms that govern use of the app are in the Terms of Service.
